What is this site?

An independent, source-based tracker of the United States federal case against Nicolás Maduro. It shows a live counter of time since he was reported taken into U.S. federal custody, the current reported status, a timeline of milestones and the documents behind each one.

It is not affiliated with any government, court, party or news organization.

What is Maduro charged with?

The U.S. Department of Justice announced charges in March 2020 against Maduro and other current and former Venezuelan officials for narco-terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, weapons offences and related counts, in the Southern District of New York.

A charge is an accusation. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Which court is handling the case?

When did custody begin?

Reporting on the operation places the transfer into U.S. federal custody on January 3, 2026. That date is the starting point for the counter on the home page.

What is the motion to dismiss?

In September 2026 the defence asked the judge to dismiss the charges, arguing head-of-state immunity. Reuters and AP covered the filing and the motion itself is linked on its milestone page.

Has there been a trial or a conviction?

No. No verdict has been entered. Any hearing or trial dates shown on the timeline are scheduled or expected dates and can move.

Where do the dates and documents come from?

From primary sources whenever possible: Justice Department releases, court filings on public dockets, and wire reporting from Reuters and the Associated Press. Each milestone page lists its own documents and sources.

How often is it updated?
